About our Seasons
January through Mid-April:
- Due to low tides and colder water temperatures, most Redfish are caught in lakes, bays, and dead-end canals using Crab Patterns, Cactus Charlies and other fly patterns with weighted eyes.
Mid-April through July:
- By now water temperatures are warmer and most of the Redfish have returned to the shallow water. Floating lines work best. Spoonflies, Poppers, Bend-Backs and Deceivers are the flies of choice. Sight-Casting is excellent with pods of tailing Redfish on good weather days.

August through December:
- August is hot, but lots of fish to work on early in the day. September usually ushers in changing weather conditions making for aggressive strikes on surface flies. Conditions continue to improve with the arrival of fall weather; lots of tailing fish with feeding periods lasting the better part of the day.
